Porsha Williams, a reality TV star known for her appearances on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” has reportedly filed for divorce from her husband Simon Guobadia after just 15 months of marriage. The news comes amidst recent rumors surrounding Guobadia’s past, but according to sources, the split is unrelated and the reason for their separation remains undisclosed.
After a month of dating, their engagement was announced by the couple in May 2021.
In May 2021, after one month of dating, the Real Housewives of Atlanta alum, 42, and the Nigerian businessman, 59, got engaged. They got married in November 2022.
On November 22, 2022, the marriage which shook Nigerian social media platforms ended. Despite wearing more than twenty dresses on her wedding day and having a $1 million wedding ring, Porsha Williams still filed for a divorce from Simon Guobadia after 15 months of marriage.
On Thursday, February 22, 2024, in Atlanta, a divorce from Guobadia was filed by the Real Housewives of Atlanta star. According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Williams, 42, and Guobadia, 59, said “I do” in November 2022, in a grand traditional ceremony in Nigeria relating to indigenous laws and customs followed by an American ceremony in Atlanta.
As rumors fly online about Guobadia’s citizen status, news of their split comes. However, the divorce is “unrelated to recent allegations involving Simon’s past,” a source tells PEOPLE.
An “ongoing matter” is the cause of their split, adds the insider.
“Will stop loving my wife when Divorce is Final” was written by Simon Guobadia to address divorce rumors.
On the other hand, Porsha Williams posted an Instagram story with caption “Thanks for your prayers and support -PW”
